After nearly 45 years staging Off-Broadway and Broadway theatre, Roundabout's history is rich in stellar productions, groundbreaking theatre
reconstructions, and innovative approaches to not-for-profit theatre management.
The company recognizes the value of preserving its production material and is committed to maintaining a permanent archive to house its historic collection. All aspects of the artistic and administrative process are maintained and made available to qualified researchers.
While the collection has gaps in materials due to many company moves over the years, the collection consists of posters, playbills, photographs, production bibles (which include lighting and sound notes, costume fittings, stage manager's notes, and budgets), costumes, and marketing materials. Our production chronology can be found here. Finding Aids and collection details will be made available as materials are processed and cataloged. Requests to access unprocessed materials are handled on a case-by-case basis, and by appointment only.
Roundabout is always looking to uncover little-known pieces of ephemera, personal stories related to productions, and memorabilia. The archives welcomes donations of Roundabout-specific materials on an on-going basis.
For questions about the collection or our collecting policy, please contact the company archivist, Tiffany Nixon, at 212-719-9393 x 351 or tiffanyn@roundabouttheatre.org.
